Welcome to the 65th Annual Billiard & Bowling Institute of America Convention information site.
A note from the Convention Chair
In the past the BBIA has always held it's annual convention within the boundaries of the United States of America. While I am proud of where I live and firmly believe there is much to see and do in the U.S.A. The BBIA has moved beyond its boundaries and continues to become an international organization. With members from Canada, Europe and Mexico and Potential members from Asia and many other parts of the world it is time to expand our horizons a bit. Cancun is a wonderful location. The Hilton Cancun Golf and Spa Resort has a pristine beach, great pool, excellent restaurants and premier meeting facilities. It also is the only hotel in Cancun with it's own "watch out for the crocks" Golf Course. Cancun is also home to some of the best dining and nightlife in Mexico. I have savored Italian food in Italy, Boston, New York and of course Seattle but my favorite Italian restaurant is in Cancun! Whether your coming to BBIA to learn more about our industry; make a difference; or socialize and build relationships, you will find that Cancun and this Hilton offers the perfect backdrop for a relax filled, effective convention. |

BBIA President Letter
Buenos Dias Senors and Senoritas,
As I look out my frosted office window pane this cold January morning, where temperatures hover in the single digits, I can’t help but turn my thoughts to the BBIA. BBIA? Why the BBIA? Well, it could be because of all the ‘warm, wonderful’ relationships I have built with BBIA members. It could be because of all the ‘hot’ business topics I’ve discussed with distributors and colleagues through the years or it could be because the Billiard and Bowling Institute of America will meeting in sun drenched Cancun, Mexico!
True! For the first time in our 65 year history, the annual BBIA Convention will be held in Cancun, Mexico, May 10-13, 2008. The BBIA has held its annual convention at many beautiful destinations over the years, including Palm Springs, California, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Scottsdale, Arizona and so many others. Cancun, however, will be an unprecedented event! In addition to all the outstanding accommodations and amenities, Cancun will mark the first BBIA convention held outside of the traditional continental U.S. borders.
Many members have expressed apprehension and concern regarding this move not wanting to disturb the traditions of our association. However, the BBIA has had increasing new members representing Canada, Mexico and Europe for years. I, along with the Board of Directors, put considerable thought into this destination in addition to several other initiatives directed at attracting new members outside of the United States. We welcome the many opportunities international members can bring to strengthen and expand our industry knowledge, understanding and relationships. The time has come to reach out and explore the possibilities.
As President of the BBIA, I am delighted to share this exciting time in our organization’s history and hope you will join us in Mexico. We have prepared another action packed agenda which, of course, includes many enjoyable social events. Please be sure to visit the BBIA web site at www.billiardandbowling.com to register. Questions? Feel free to contact me directly at 586-598-3948 or the BBIA office at 817-385-8120.
Gracias!
